Trainer for AI assistants.
Useful training answers.
Find a guide, check an exercise cue, or run a strength calculator through your AI assistant. Every answer links to its source. No sign-in needed.
Connect your assistant
- Open your assistant's settings for MCP servers or custom connectors.
- Add
https://trainer.fyi/api/mcpusing Streamable HTTP with no authentication. - Try: “Find Trainer's guide to progressive overload, then show me its chest exercises with dumbbells.”
Your assistant needs support for remote MCP servers. After connecting, it can search 490 public training resources, look up 355 named exercises, and use all 20 calculators.
Five tools, clear sources
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
search_content | Find guides, Trainer/Data research, exercise pages, workouts, program guides, calculators, and app comparisons with citation links. |
get_page | Read a public page, including its tables, technique cues, and frequently asked questions. |
find_exercises | Find named exercises by muscle or words such as “dumbbell”, with published cues and sample sets and reps. |
list_calculators | Discover calculator slugs, required fields, choices, and measurement units. |
calculate | Run the same formulas as the website using explicit inputs in kg/cm or lb/in. |
Use it over HTTP
Agents that can make HTTP requests can call the same tools directly. Send JSON to POST https://trainer.fyi/api/agent:
curl https://trainer.fyi/api/agent \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-d '{"tool":"calculate","arguments":{"calculator":"one-rep-max-calculator","unit":"kg","values":{"weight":80,"reps":5}}}'This example returns an estimated one-rep max of 93.3 kg with formula notes, the inputs you entered, and a link to the one-rep max calculator. Calculator results are adult planning estimates; the published limitations accompany each result. Ask for missing measurements instead of guessing them.
Read without a connector
The public JSON catalog lists resources, exercises, calculator fields, and tool schemas. Each resource has a canonical page URL and a Markdown URL. The llms.txt index and sitemap offer additional entry points.
For example, read the progressive overload guide as Markdown, or open the regular guide.
For agents browsing the website
Browsers that support the experimental WebMCP API can discover the same five public tools on every page. Support varies by browser and agent. The MCP endpoint, HTTP API, and Markdown resources provide access when WebMCP is unavailable.
