Trainer Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Avia Chen ("we", "us") about your use of the Trainer app for iPhone and Apple Watch (listed on the App Store as "Trainer – AI Gym Coach"), its AI coach, its social features, and trainer.fyi (together, "Trainer"). By using Trainer, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Trainer.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Trainer. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you. You may not use Trainer if the law forbids it for you.

2. Your account

  • You can use most of Trainer without an account. The AI coach and the social features need you to sign in with Apple.
  • Keep your Apple Account secure. You are responsible for activity under your Trainer account.
  • Give accurate information, and do not create an account for someone else.
  • You can delete your account at any time in Settings > Account & Social > Delete Account.

3. Health and safety: not medical advice

Trainer gives general fitness information. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it does not replace a doctor, physical therapist, or qualified coach.

  • Talk to a doctor before you start or change an exercise program, especially if you are pregnant, have an injury or health condition, or take medication.
  • Stop exercising and get medical help if you feel pain, dizziness, faintness, chest pain, or shortness of breath.
  • Use good form, suitable equipment, and a spotter when you lift heavy weights. Choose loads you can control.
  • Readiness scores, weight suggestions, and plans are estimates. You decide what you lift.

Assumption of risk. Strength training and other exercise carry a risk of injury, and in rare cases death. You choose to take part, and you accept these risks. To the fullest extent the law allows, you are responsible for how you use Trainer's suggestions.

4. The AI coach

  • AI replies are created automatically by third-party models (Anthropic and xAI). They can be wrong, incomplete, out of date, or unsuitable for you, even when they sound confident.
  • The optional Form Check feature sends your video to Google (Gemini API) to analyze your form. Its score and notes are AI output too, and they can also be wrong.
  • Check important advice. Never use the AI coach for medical decisions or emergencies. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
  • The AI coach has daily usage limits. We may change these limits or the models we use.
  • Do not try to make the AI coach produce harmful or illegal content, or get around its limits.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use Trainer to:

  • break the law or someone else's rights;
  • harass, threaten, bully, stalk, or abuse anyone;
  • post hate speech, or attack people based on who they are;
  • post sexually explicit content or nudity, including in avatars and photos;
  • pretend to be another person, coach, or organization, or a member of our team;
  • send spam, scams, advertising, or deceptive links;
  • promote eating disorders, unsafe training, or the unsafe use of performance-enhancing drugs;
  • share someone else's private information, or content you do not have the right to share;
  • scrape Trainer, use bots, create accounts automatically, or bypass limits or security;
  • copy, reverse-engineer, or interfere with Trainer or its servers, except where the law allows it.

We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. We remove such content and remove the users who post it. To report content or a person, use Report in the app (section 6) or email support@trainer.fyi.

6. Social features and your content

  • You own your content. This includes your profile, photos, posts, comments, and challenge names.
  • You give us a license to run the service. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, copy, process, and display your content only to operate Trainer and to show it to the audience you choose. The license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people have already seen or that the law requires us to keep.
  • You are responsible for your content.
  • Filters. We check usernames, display names, challenge titles, and comments for prohibited language. Filters are not perfect.
  • Report. Use Report on a post, comment, profile, profile photo, or challenge, or email support@trainer.fyi. We review every report and respond within 24 hours. We may remove content, limit features, or close an account.
  • Block. Open a person's profile and choose Block user. You then do not see each other's profile or content, and you cannot follow or cheer each other. Blocking does not stop either of you from reporting content.

Trainer is free to download. We may offer optional paid features or subscriptions now or in the future. If we do:

  • Apple handles all payments through your Apple Account. Apple's terms for in-app purchases apply.
  • The price, the billing period, and what is included appear in the app before you buy.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid the next charge. Cancel in iOS Settings > (your name) > Subscriptions.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.
  • If we change a price, Apple will tell you before the new price applies, as Apple's rules require.

8. Our intellectual property

Trainer, including its software, design, text, exercise library, artwork, and logos, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, as the Apple Media Services terms allow. You may send us feedback. We may use it freely, and we have no duty to pay you for it.

9. Third-party services

Trainer works with services we do not control, such as Apple (Sign in with Apple, iCloud, Apple Health, Apple Watch), our AI providers, and connections you choose, such as your own Claude account or MacroFactor. Their terms apply to your use of them. We are not responsible for them.

10. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Trainer and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account, or remove content, if you break these terms, create risk for other people, or if the law requires it. For a severe violation, we may act without notice. We may change or stop parts of Trainer. If we stop the whole service, we will try to give you notice so you can export your data. Sections 3, 6 (your responsibility for content), 8, and 11 to 15 continue after termination.

11. Disclaimers

Trainer is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not promise that Trainer will be error-free or always available, that data will never be lost, or that any result (such as strength gains, weight change, or fewer injuries) will happen. Keep your own copy of important data with Export My Data.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. We are not liable for lost profits, lost data, or personal injury that results from exercise you choose to do, even if we were told such damage was possible.
  • Our total liability for all claims about Trainer is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for Trainer in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US $50.

Some countries and states do not allow some of these limits. If you live in one of them, the limits apply only as far as the law allows.

13. Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because of your content or your breach of these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent the law allows.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute goes to the competent courts of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Israel, unless the law where you live gives you the right to use your local courts. Before you file a claim, please email us so we can try to solve it.

15. Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Trainer or its content. Apple has no duty to provide maintenance or support for Trainer. If Trainer fails to conform to a warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of any purchase price, and Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for claims about Trainer, including product liability, legal compliance, or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm that you are not in a country under a US government embargo and not on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the effective date above. For important changes, we will tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Trainer after that date, you accept the new terms.

17. General

If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a right, we do not waive it. You may not transfer these terms without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger or sale. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Trainer.
